rain-in-Maharashtra

Some parts of South Konkan, South Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada have received light to moderate rain and thundershower activities during the last 24 hours. Due to these light showers, temperatures have slightly decreased in many parts of Maharashtra. However places in Vidarbha region including Chandrapur and Bramhapuri are reeling under heat wave conditions.

These rains have occurred due to the presence of an offshore Trough that has been extending from South Maharashtra up to Kerala coast. Moreover, an upper air Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over North Interior Karnataka and adjoining parts of Marathwada and Telangana in the lower levels.

Due to these systems, moist winds are blowing over the entire state. These systems and winds will bring along light to moderate rain and thundershower activities in parts of South Konkan, South Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada during the next 48 hours. The chances of isolated light rains in southern parts of Vidarbha cannot be ruled out.

According to Skymet Weather, in addition to the above systems, a Low Pressure Area is over Southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining region, at present. This system would intensify even more and start moving in north/northwest direction along Karnataka and Maharashtra coast, thus bringing in light to moderate rain and thundershowers over the southern parts of Maharashtra and Konkan coast during next 24 to 36 hours.

Weather alert for Maharashtra

Rain and thundershowers with strong winds will occur over Akola, Amravati, Aurangabad, Bid, Buldana, Chandrapur, Jalna, Kolhapur, Latur, Nanded, Nashik, Parbhani, Pune, Ratnagiri, Sangli, Satara, Sindhudurg, Solapur, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal during next 8-10 hours.

Despite rains, the northern parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha region would reel under heat wave like conditions for next 24 hours. Gradually, the cloud cover will increase over the entire state and cover the northern parts of Maharashtra as well.
