Rain in Mumbai to bring relief from soaring temperatures

RainyEven before Monsoon withdrew from Maharashtra, temperatures have begun to soar in several parts of the state. Mumbai, for instance, is one city that has been reeling under high maximum temperatures as September ended with days witnessing record breaking high temperature. Though, according to Skymet, light to moderate rainfall is likely in Mumbai during 2-3 days that will bring down the temperatures substantially.

In last 24 hours, few areas in South Mumbai have witnessed light rains. Light rain and thundershowers are expected in parts of Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra and coastal parts of the state dung next few days.

A feeble offshore that is extending from South Gujarat to Konkan & Goa region is expected to enhance the rainfall activity over Maharashtra including Mumbai and adjoining areas of coastal Maharashtra.

September ends with high temperatures in Mumbai

September 30 set the record of the hottest September day ever, with a temperature as high as 37.4°C. The temperature was even higher than the previous all-time high record of 37°C on September 30, last year.

The city has been witnessing high maximum temperature for last few days due to a prolonged dry spell. The city has not received any rain since September 23rd due to which day temperatures have been settling 5-6 notches above normal. High level of humidity also adds to the misery of residents.

However, wind pattern is likely to change soon and moist winds from the Arabian Sea will bring down the temperatures to a limit.
