Rain is likely to increase over east Rajasthan and north Gujarat during the next 48 hours. The low pressure area over west Madhya Pradesh will move further westward and is expected to merge with the axis of monsoon trough that is passing through Phalodi, Kota, Raipur and Chandibali. It will then move southeastwards to east central Bay of Bengal. Owing to these developments, rain will increase over north Gujarat, south and east Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh, during the next two days.
Due to rain, temperature in these areas will remain below normal by 3 to 6 degrees.
In north India, light rain could occur at few places over Punjab, Haryana, west Uttar Pradesh and the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next 24 hours. But there would be considerable decrease in rain thereafter as the Western Disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir will move eastward.
In central India, rain will decrease over east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Telangana due to westward shift of the low pressure area.
Rain will continue along the west coast over Konkan, Goa and coastal Karnataka. Moderate to heavy rain may occur at a few places in these parts. The seasonal off shore trough extends from south Gujarat to Kerala coast.
Rain will remain subdued over east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal. Some rain may be witnessed in Gangetic West Bengal. Lack of rain will increase the temperatures in the region to above normal.
Light rain is expected over northeastern states but hills in the region could experience moderate rain at a few places with one or two heavy spells.
Rain will remain subdued in southern Peninsula and temperatures in Tamil Nadu will remain above normal during the next few days.
