Hills snowfall

Mostly dry weather has prevailed over the Western Himalayas during the last 24 hour. However, light rain and snow had occurred at isolated places over the extremely upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir as well as Uttarakhand.

At present, a feeble Western Disturbance as an upper air system is moving across Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this system, light rain and snow will continue at some places, mainly over higher reaches of these states. However, valleys and lower areas will experience dry weather.

According to Skymet Weather, another Western Disturbance will approach the Western Himalayas on February 26. Due to this system, rain and thundershower as well as snowfall will begin at many places of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. These activities will be followed by strong gusty winds, which will continue until February 27, with the intensity of these activities remaining between light and moderate.

The popular places like Gulmarg, Srinagar, Udhampur and Dalhousie will get the touch of these activities. Moreover, there are also bright chances of avalanches in the region. It has also been predicted that roadway operations will get majorly affected during this course, with the possibility of Jammu-Srinagar highway remaining closed for some time.

Further, in wake of all these activities, the day temperatures will decrease significantly while the night temperatures will witness an increase.
