During last 24 hours, fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thundershowers with few heavy spells occurred over Karnataka. Northern districts of the state have received first good spell of thundershower on May 14.

In the last 24 hours, Chitradurga recorded heavy rainfall activity to the tune of 54.4 mm, Bengaluru 16.4 mm, followed by Agumbe 2.8 mm, Ballari 6 mm, Belagavi 13 mm, Gadag 15.3 mm, Hassan 43.2 mm, Honnavar 13 mm, Mysuru 3 mm.

These rains can be attributed to the trough that was extending from central parts of Uttar Pradesh to Interior Karnataka. Now also a trough is seen running from Madhya Pradesh to Interior Karnataka. Therefore, we expect rain and thundershower activities to continue over many districts of the state for the next 48 hours.

Thereafter the intensity and spread of these rains will reduce but on and of light rains may still continue. Weather of the state will not become completely dry.

Temperatures of many districts have fallen by 2-4 degrees and now we expect temperatures to start rising once again.
