Last showers that had blessed Maharashtra state was on November 19, wherein places like Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur and Pune had recorded light to moderate rains. But since then, entire state has been witnessing dry weather conditions.

During the next 48 hours, these dry conditions are expected to continue. Thereafter, a North-South trough is expected to form from South Madhya Pradesh to South Madhya Maharashtra across Vidarbha and Marathwada. Due to this trough, we expect light rains to occur over isolated places of Marathwada and Vidarbha around December 9 and 10.

However, weather of Konkan & Goa as well as North Madhya Maharashtra will continue to be dry. There is absolutely no chance of rain over places like Mumbai, Dahanu, Nashik and Jalgaon and these areas will continue to battle arid conditions whereas places like Akola, Nagpur, Hingoli, Jalna may receive light rains with cloudy sky conditions.

These showers will help upcoming Rabi crops in restoration of soil moisture. However, these showers will last for a very short period and once again the entire state will go dry.

At present, both minimums and maximums are marginally above normal over Vidarbha and Marathwada regions. In the coming days, maximums are expected to fall by 2℃-3℃. However, minimums may increase marginally with no winters setting in soon over Maharashtra.
