Rains, thundershowers likely to continue over Bihar and Uttar Pradesh today as well, temperatures to fall

Rain in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

In the last 24 hours, West Uttar Pradesh has recorded haze and rainfall at many places. While Shahjahanpur recorded 63 mm rains, Bahraich 27 mm, Gorakhpur 13 mm, Bareilly 35 mm, Varanasi 14 m and Aligarh received 9 mm of rain. Moradabad area also recorded some rain.

The adjoining state of Bihar has also recorded rain and thundershower activities with moderate spells at some places in the last 24 hours. While Gaya received 12 mm rain, Patna received 6 mm and Bhagalpur recorded 4 mm rain.

These rains were witnessed in the presence of a Western Disturbance which is moving across Jammu and Kashmir. Its induced Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over Punjab and Haryana. A Trough is extending from this system up to Bihar and adjoining areas. Another Cyclonic Circulation lies over East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas.

Rain and thundershower activity is likely to continue in parts of East Uttar Pradesh and many parts of Bihar, especially the foothills for the day. Southern parts of Bihar will continue to receive light rain and thundershower activity after 24 hours as well.

Weather over Bihar and adjoining South Uttar Pradesh will continue to remain similar with light rains and thundershowers tomorrow as well. Weather is expected to improve tomorrow onward.

Cold day conditions may develop over some more parts over Northwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining foothills with the temperatures remaining below normal over most parts of Bihar and West Uttar Pradesh.

At present, the minimum temperatures are still normal or marginally higher than normal over most parts. However, as the Northwesterly winds are expected to set in, temperatures will start dropping by tomorrow.
