The rain in Maharashtra is slowly and gradually witnessing a declining trend. The double-digit rains that were constant a few days back have reduced to getting recorded in single digits. On the past day also, barring one or two locations, the rains remained in single digits.

In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Mahabaleshwar recorded 26 mm of rains, Vengurla 10 mm, Yeotmal 8 mm, Kolhapur 7 mm, Wardha 4 mm, Akola 4 mm, Jalgaon 2 mm, Mumbai’s Santa Cruz Observatory recorded 1 mm and Colaba recorded 2 mm of rains.

The reason for the reduction in the rains as per Skymet Weather can be associated with the absence of any significant weather system over the region. The offshore trough which is at present running from South Maharashtra to Kerala coast has become feeble in nature which led to the reduction in the rains.

As of now also, no significant weather system is expected over Maharashtra and hence the state is likely to witness rains at a reducing note. Light rains are expected over South Konkan with light scattered rains over Vidarbha and North Madhya Maharashtra. Isolated rains are expected over the remaining regions.

However, the weather of the state would continue to remain comfortable with cloudy to partly cloudy sky prevailing.

At this stage, let us see the impact of this weather on the agriculture belt of Maharashtra:

Due to partially dry weather conditions, farmers are suggested to continue intercultural operations and fertilizers application. Sucking pest infestation is expected in Cotton in many parts of the state. Moreover, dry weather further would increase the attack on crop, therefore farmers are suggested to take pest control measure.
