Gujarat Rains 1

Gujarat and Rajasthan have remained almost dry with only some light traces of rains showing up ever since the month started. This gave the residents of both the states a huge relief from the flooding situation that prevailed and had paralyzed most districts of the state.

In the last 24 hours also, scattered light rains had occurred in parts of Southeast Rajasthan along with isolated pockets of Saurashtra region in Gujarat. Within the span of the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Chittorgarh witnessed 5 mm of rains, Kota 3 mm, Sri Ganganagar 2 mm, Idar 2 mm while Valsad recorded 8 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, now, the weather is expected to remain almost dry. Though the prevalence of westerly and southwesterly winds are incurring moisture from the Arabian Sea thereby increasing the moisture content in the atmosphere in parts of both Gujarat and South Rajasthan.

On account of these moisture incurring winds, on and off light showers are expected to continue over some parts of Saurashtra region along with showing up in a few pockets of East Rajasthan as well. On the other hand, the weather of Kutch region and West Rajasthan will remain almost dry.

Thereafter, a cyclonic circulation is expected to develop from South Pakistan and adjoining West Rajasthan. Another cyclonic circulation is expected to travel from Odisha to southwest Madhya Pradesh. Due to the combined effect of these weather systems, rains are likely to increase over South Rajasthan and many parts of Gujarat by August 19.

Moreover, these rains are expected to continue lashing both the states until August 22. In a nutshell, districts such as Kota, Udaipur, Chittorgarh and Mount Abu in Rajasthan, while Idar, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, and Bhavnagar in Gujarat may witness moderate showers with one or two heavy spells. Although, the situation is not alarming for inundating roads that were in the month of July.
