Weather in India to be dry on Republic Day

January 25, 2014 2:23 PM |

Fog in India will persist but its intensity is likely to reduce as the country celebrates the 65th Republic Day tomorrow. Today dense fog was observed in several parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi/NCR, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and few northeastern states.

Weather in Delhi

A fresh Western Disturbance will keep the sky overcast in the national capital today. Cold day conditions are likely to prevail as maximum temperature may not rise above 16°C. Tomorrow, people going to watch the parade showcasing India's military might and cultural heritage could face some trouble as Delhi will be foggy during early morning hours but sun will appear by afternoon. Cold and dry north westerly winds will help to clear the fog in Delhi a bit early. These winds will sweep across entire northern plains and some parts of west Uttar Pradesh.

Weather in India

The weather in India will remain mainly dry tomorrow as all government organizations, institutions and civic bodies host elaborate programmes to celebrate Republic Day. Higher reaches of Jammu & Kashmir could receive some light rain and snow, in view of the Western Disturbance. In extreme southern part of peninsular India, coastal Kerala and Tamil Nadu might receive light rain.

Cold day conditions have abated from Uttar Pradesh and the maximums will rise gradually. Nevertheless, maximums are still 4°C to 5°C below normal in Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh. Day temperatures in Bikaner and Kota are 5°C below the normal average at around 19°C. Maximum in Churu is even lower at 16.5°C. Persistent fog cover and cold winds are not permitting the temperatures to rise in this part of the country.
