Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are the two states which have received very good rains during the last many days. Southwest Monsoon marked its arrival over the state of Chhattisgarh on June 8 and after a few days on June 10, Monsoon progressed further into some more parts of South Chhattisgarh.

However, the arrival of Monsoon has been delayed over the state of Madhya Pradesh. The normal date of Monsoon onset over Madhya Pradesh is between June 10 and 15 but this year, it is expected to make a delayed arrival by a couple of days.

As of June 12, Chhattisgarh is surplus by 83% of rain, West Madhya Pradesh by 76%, whereas East Madhya Pradesh has a huge rain surplus of 110%.

On Tuesday as well, light to moderate showers occurred over East Madhya Pradesh and many parts of Chhattisgarh. However, the weather over West Madhya Pradesh remained dry and hot.

In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Umaria recorded 8.3 mm of rain, followed by Gwalior 1.6 mm, Jabalpur 2.6 mm, Sagar 0.8 mm.

Now, as the Monsoon current is weakening over most parts of the country, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will also witness almost dry weather in the coming days. Thus, onset of Monsoon will be delayed even more over Madhya Pradesh.

Further, we expect rains to reappear around June 20 or June 21 over parts of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
