In the current phase, Southwest Monsoon is making a good progress and conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon. In a couple of days, it is likely to cover Gujarat, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, North India including parts of Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and hilly states including Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. In fact, HImachal Pradesh is expected to receive extremely heavy rainfall on June 24 and June 25.

Monsoon system boost the advance of Southwest Monsoon

The advance or progress of Southwest Monsoon in India is governed by active Monsoon systems. Currently one Monsoon system in Arabian Sea and other one in Bay of Bengal are infusing rains in various parts of western coast and eastern parts of the country, respectively. As these systems move further and move inland, good Monsoon rain along with thundershowers are expected.

Western Disturbance hasten advance of Monsoon

Delhi received good amount of pre-Monsoon showers on Sunday and Monday. The rain was due to a Western Disturbance that is hovering over Jammu and Kashmir and is influencing weather in Delhi-NCR.
