Low Pressure Intensify To Depression : Heavy Rains Over Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan
The well-marked low-pressure area over Bihar and adjoining Jharkhand moved west-northwest and intensified into a depression. The system is centered close to Prayagraj and will move northwest across Southwest Uttar Pradesh and Northwest Madhya Pradesh over the next 48 hours. The forward section of the depression will reach parts of East Rajasthan. These three states will have heavy to very heavy rainfall, albeit in a staggered manner.
The cyclonic circulation of the depression is extending till higher levels and tilting southwestward with height. The monsoon trough is passing through the elongated east-west axis of low-level circulation. Also, a strong stream of easterly winds is extending far to the north and sweeping the Indo-Gangetic plains. All these factors, together, will reinforce and sustain the weather system. Inclement weather conditions are expected today and tomorrow. Little relief is likely on 19th July in some pockets and broad clearance is anticipated on 20th July 2025.
The trijunction of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan will witness the fury of the depression. Rainfall could be extremely heavy at some places. Today, the locations facing bigger risk will include Jhansi, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Bhind, Morena, Datia, Tikamgarh, Gwalior, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Guna, Niwari, Chhattarpur, Panna, Satna, and Rewa. The southern half of Madhya Pradesh will escape the harsh fury of the monsoon. As the weather system moves westward, the rains will extend to East Rajasthan tomorrow. The danger of ravaging weather conditions will cover parts of Rajasthan and include locations like Dholpur, Kota, Bundi, Alwar, Jaipur, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Tonk, Swai Madhopur, and adjoining parts of the state. The northern and western parts of the state will have light rainfall on 19th July 2025. Overall, good weather conditions are expected the next day, on 20th July. A fresh wave of rains is likely from 22nd July and later over the state.
