The state of Bihar was the least rainiest during the Monsoon 2025 season. Despite some decent rainfall toward the end of September, the season ended with a huge deficit of 31%. This was the highest shortfall among the plains of the country during the season. The conditions have now reversed. Notwithstanding that October–November is the least rainy period for most parts of the country outside the South Peninsula, rains have been in abundance across Bihar. The month of October alone recorded a surplus of 169% rainfall, which further climbed to 213% between 1st October and 2nd November 2025.

It has rained heavily in the poll-bound state over the last ten days. The northern half of Bihar has been battered far more than the southern half. Several districts have recorded over 400% surplus rainfall, including West & East Champaran, Gopalganj, Saran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Supaul, Purnea, Bhojpur, Buxar, Sheikhpura, and Siwan. All other districts also witnessed rainfall far above normal limits. The widespread heavy rainfall led to the cancellation of multiple poll rallies. Due to the inclement weather, several planned events and programs were severely disrupted.

In recent days, the weather conditions were influenced by the remnant effect of Cyclone Montha. The tropical storm, after crossing the Andhra Pradesh coast, moved inland and curved toward the eastern states of Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal. The foothills and Purvanchal region of Bihar were inundated with incessant, powerful rains for several days. The weather conditions have since improved and are likely to remain stable.

The weakened remnant of the storm, in the form of a cyclonic circulation, pounded the region for days before dissipating. The disturbance has now diffused and moved away. With the system’s clearance, temperatures are expected to drop marginally. Overall, pleasant weather conditions are anticipated for the polling days on 6th and 11th November 2025. Day temperatures will hover around 30°C, while mild early morning chill will keep the mercury near or below 20°C. No adverse weather conditions are expected henceforth until the completion of the election process.
