North India is witnessing plenty of weather activities these days. Starting with the hilly areas, Srinagar has recorded season’s highest snowfall in March. According to the data till March 10, the city has already recorded 126 mm of precipitation so far, surpassing the monthly average of 115 mm.
Consecutive Western Disturbances along with induced cyclonic circulations have caused record snow and rain over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, leaving people in extremely cold conditions.

Well this cold wave have also travelled to plains, as minimum temperatures have dropped significantly over Punjab, Haryana and Delhi. On Tuesday morning, Delhi recorded minimum temperature of 9.2°C, which is the lowest minimum recorded in last ten years. In Punjab, Amritsar recorded 3.4°C that is 7 degrees below normal, while Chandigarh observed 8.6°C, 5 degrees below normal.
Similarly, Karnal in Haryana got 7°C, six degrees below normal.
As per Skymet, these temperatures are expected to sustain for another 24 hours, post which we can expect a relief from the low temperatures.
