Weather Forecast for July 22: Light rain in Delhi, Heavy Monsoon rains in Northeast, Goa, UP, Bihar

July 21, 2016 6:20 PM |

The weather system prevailing over West-Central Bay of Bengal off the Andhra and Odisha coast has now moved inland. The cyclonic circulation is now seen over South Chhattisgarh and adjoining Vidarbha region. With this, fairly widespread rain and thundershowers are also likely over Maharashtra, Telangana, parts of Chhattisgarh and east Madhya Pradesh on Friday. A trough is also extending from this system across Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Accordingly, we can expect scattered Monsoon rain across the well-marked trough line including Chennai. Meanwhile, the off-shore trough is also extending all along the West Coast, but it is more marked over Konkan & Goa and Coastal Karnataka. With this, moderate to heavy rains with isolated very rains are likely over these two regions but Kerala will continue with mainly light rains only.

While up in North, the Monsoon trough is now gradually shifting southwards and is presently running through Indo-Gangetic plains up to Northeast India, connecting two cyclonic circulations, one over Punjab and adjoining Pakistan while other one over Bihar region. With this, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya will continue with heavy to extremely heavy rains. Foothills of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal will also see some good Monsoon showers with few very heavy rains as well. However, plains of Northwest India will see mainly light rains, which will also increase gradually.
