The month of September has remained mainly dry for Delhi as the National capital failed to observe good rains. In fact, during last 24 hours as well, the city failed to record any wet spells. Last good spells that Delhi witnessed were during the initial days of month.
As of now, not much rains are foreseen for Delhi. This is basically due to the change of wind direction. Now, persistent northwesterly winds are prevailing over Delhi and NCR. However, the moisture level is still on a higher side.
Therefore, not much rains are likely over the National capital for another 3-4 days. But a Western Disturbance is likely to approach the Western Himalayas.
In the wake of this weather system, some light spells are likely to make their appearance over Delhi and adjoining areas between September 12 and 13. However, these rains are expected to be for a short period of time and likely to be patchy in nature.
Thus, unfortunately, these rains will not be able to contribute much in terms of shrinking the rainfall statistics for the National Capital. The average monthly rainfall for Delhi stands at 149.8 mm but till now, the city has just recorded 69 mm of rain.
Sky is expected to remain mainly clear with bright sunshine during next few days. A steep rise in temperatures is also expected. Temperatures might scale up to mid-30s. Gradually, minimums are likely to witness a fall and nights will be comparatively comfortable.
