A Western Disturbance is seen as a trough in the middle and upper tropospheric levels, with its axis at about 5.8 km above mean sea level, running roughly along longitude 66°E to the north of latitude 30°N.
The subtropical westerly jet stream, with core winds of the order of 140 knots at around 12.6 km above mean sea level, continues to prevail over North India.
A cyclonic circulation is present over the Comorin area at about 0.9 km above mean sea level.
A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to approach the Western Himalayan region from December 27.

During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain and snowfall occurred at many places over Jammu & Kashmir.
Dense to very dense fog prevailed over many parts of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, and at a few places over Bihar, Punjab, West Rajasthan, and East Madhya Pradesh.
Moderate fog was observed over Northeast India, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh.
Cold day conditions were observed in isolated pockets of East Madhya Pradesh and East Uttar Pradesh.

During the next 24 hours, isolated light rain and snowfall are possible over Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
A gradual fall in minimum temperatures is expected over Northwest India during the next two days.
Minimum temperatures over Central India, Gujarat, and Maharashtra are likely to drop after the next 24 hours.
Minimum temperatures over East India are expected to fall after two days.
Dense to very dense fog conditions may continue over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
