November 8, 2017 11:02 AM |

Almost daily Delhiites are waking up to smoggy mornings and are inhaling the toxic air which according to medical experts can even cause serious respiratory and lung ailments. Today also, a dense layer of smog engulfed parts of Delhi and NCR.

This kind of weather condition has once again reminded the haunting memories of last years ‘the Great Smog of Delhi’ that enveloped the city between November 1 and 9. As per Skymet Weather, stubble burning practiced in the adjoining states of Punjab and Haryana is to be blamed for this kind of smoggy weather.

As the wind flow is northeasterly, these winds are carrying the pollutants of crop burning from Punjab and Haryana towards Delhi and NCR. Moreover, the wind flow is light and calm which is why is unable to lift the pollutant levels from the atmosphere.

Here we bring to you exclusive pictures of stubble burning from Patiala that has led to this hazardous weather across Delhi and the adjoining Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad.
