First round of unseasonal rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh to end soon

December 17, 2019 12:50 PM |

Rain in Maharashtra

As predicted by Skymet Weather, unseasonal rain of light intensity was seen in parts of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh yesterday. According to the rainfall data available with Skymet, Chhindwara recorded 6 mm of rainfall, followed by Jabalpur 4 mm and Pendra Road 2.4 mm in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday.

According to our weather experts, an Anti-Cyclone is over parts of Vidarbha, adjoining South Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The winds from two different directions i.e cold winds from northern plains and humid winds from the Bay of Bengal are making a Confluence Zone over the region. This convergence has been giving rain since the last four days in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh.

However, the activities are expected to slow down today. Only isolated light rain coupled with thunderstorm is likely in Vidarbha, Marathwada, South Madhya Pradesh as well as South Chhattisgarh during the next 24 hours. By tomorrow, the rain belt would vacate Maharashtra, shift eastwards and cover parts of Coastal Odisha. Gradually, it will extend up to North Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

By December 19, the rainfall activities will remain confined only to parts of Coastal Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

Another round of such unseasonal activity is likely around December 22, which might continue for the next two to three days.
