Gujarat Rainfall Performance

Cyclone Maha has weakened into a Depression today morning. Now it is lying as a Well Marked Low Pressure Area south of Gujarat in Northeast Arabian Sea. The system is likely to weaken further.

Due to its impact, light to moderate rains have occurred over coastal parts of Gujarat such as Veraval, Rajkot, Baroda, Surat, Ahmedabad, Valsad and Diu.

Now, as the weather system is weakening further therefore, we do not expect much weather activity over Gujarat. However, scattered light to moderate rains may continue over Southern districts of Gujarat region such as Valsad, Navsari, Surat, Baroch, Bhavnagar, Amreli, and Baroda. Isolated light rains are also possible over Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Panchmahal, Dahanu, and Chotta Udaipur.

In a nutshell, the impact of Cyclone Maha will be negligible over Gujarat by tomorrow. However, sea conditions will remain rough until tomorrow morning. Wind speed to the tune of 30- 40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph will be observed over coastal areas of Gujarat. After 48 hours, the intensity of rains will reduce further. Only some isolated light rains will be recorded over Gujarat. The weather of Kutch will be almost dry.
