Heavy rains lash Ranchi, Jamshedpur, flooding rains to continue in parts of Jharkhand

Rain in Jharkhand

Since the last two to three days, the state of Jharkhand has recorded heavy to very heavy rains. These rains have occurred in view of a Cyclonic Circulation in the North Bay of Bengal. An East-West Trough is also extending from Haryana to West Bengal across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Torrential rains over many parts of Jharkhand have resulted in flooding over the plains which includes cities like Giridih and adjoining areas.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Saturday, The capital city Ranchi recorded a whopping 66 mm of rainfall activity, meanwhile, Jamshedpur saw 30 mm of rains with Daltonganj recording 10 mm of rains.

Rainfall activity will continue to lash the state of Jharkhand for another 48 hours. This means that until September 30, moderate to heavy showers will be seen in many parts of the state.

October 1 onward, rains will start to reduce over the state. However, southern and eastern districts will Continue to see some rainfall activity even until then. Thus, the rain situation in Jharkhand will only improve by the first week of October.
