Hot Weekend For Delhi, Rainy Week Lies Ahead

May 19, 2023 6:53 PM |

Delhi recorded a day temperature of 36.5 degrees yesterday, about 4 degrees below the normal. Courtesy of moderate showers the previous day, the night turned pleasant and the day remained windy to suppress any rise of temperature. Today also, the mercury will remain under 40 degrees.
Clear sky conditions and moderate breeze will lead to a rise in temperature over the weekend. Mercury may breach 42-degree mark over the next 3 days. It is likely to dip again around mid-week next.

An active western disturbance over the mountains and fairly strong induced circulation over the plains will twist the weather conditions over the northern plains, including Delhi. Mild weather activity is likely late at night on 21st May.  Clouds and rain may still be far and few on 22nd May. However, 23rd May onwards, spread and intensity will increase. A prolonged spell of moderate rain and thundershowers is expected between 23rd May and 28th May. Most of the weather activity is likely during the late afternoon/ evening/night. A few spells could be heavier as well, albeit of short duration. Midweek onward, the temperatures will plunge once again to below normal for 4-5 days.
