Rain in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh has been receiving continuous rains since the arrival of Monsoon. At present, a well marked Low Pressure area which was over Southeast Uttar Pradesh has given good rains over Varanasi and adjoining areas on 24 and 25.

Though intensity over East Uttar Pradesh has reduced but scattered light rains are going on. West Uttar Pradesh is almost dry since many days. Though northwestern districts like Meerut, Bareilly, Nazimabad have received few good spells.

As per Skymet Weather, the reason of these subdued rains over most parts of the state can be attributed to the Monsoon trough which is at present running along the central parts of the country. We expect that the axis of Monsoon trough will start moving towards North and rains will increase over many districts of Uttar Pradesh by July 30.

Gradually the axis of Monsoon trough will shift towards the foothills of Himalayas and light to moderate rains will continue over northern districts which lie along the foothills such as Pillibhit, Bareilly, Bijnor, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Sidharthnagar, and Gorakhpur.

Lucknow and Kanpur may receive light to moderate rains from July 30 to August 4 but rains over Allahabad and Varanasi will witness patchy light rains only. In the past 24 hours from 8.30 am on Thursday, Allahabad and Jhansi witnessed 10.2 mm of rain and Moradabad 4.2 mm.
