Rain in Mahabaleshwar

It has been a rainy Monsoon for many parts of Konkan and the city which has been winning hands down is the city of Mahabaleshwar. So much so that Mahabaleshwar has witnessed more rains than the wettest city on Earth, Cherrapunji.

So far until today, i.e. September 10, Mahabaleshwar has recorded a whopping 7925.5 mm. On the other hand, Cherrapunji, which otherwise is the rainiest city on Earth has observed just about 6213.5 mm which is 1700 mm less than the usual.

Mahabaleshwar has managed to record around 2500 mm rains more than it usually does. The city of Mahabaleshwar witnesses very heavy rains during the Monsoon season and three-digit rains happen to be a very common affair during this time.

The Konkan and Goa region happens to be one of the rainiest pockets during the Monsoon season where almost all the stations witness rainfall in four digits. Mumbai rains this season have also displayed a bumper performance this Monsoon season. Here, September rains have been recorded to the tune of 791 mm in just ten days of the month, which is more than double the amount of its monthly rains.
