Delhi weather has been playing peek-a- boo for the past few days. While days continue to be hot and extremely humid, the calm night transforms into a rainy and windy one. On Tuesday midnight, the city observed a short spell of thunderstorm accompanied by thunderstorm and rain.
On Thursday, temperatures once again witnessed a rise of two degrees. During the day, hot winds started to blow from the northwest direction as a trough was over North of Delhi. However, by late evening hours, winds reversed and began to blow from the easterly direction.
Due to change in wind direction, humidity levels witnessed an increase and the trough oscillated over Delhi resulting in thundery cloud development. By midnight, many parts of Delhi-NCR witnessed thunderstorm activities with scattered light rain. At some places, strong winds gusting up to 40-50 kmph also prevailed.
These thunderstorm activities began at Palam around 12:30 am and continued until 03:00 am. The Palam observatory recorded 0.8 mm of rainfall. The temperature at around 12:00 am was 35 degrees, however, in about 30 minutes, it dropped down to 31 degrees.
However, no change in the maximum temperature has been observed. Also, winds have changed direction and Northwesterly winds have started to blow over the region. However, the possibility of isolated thunderstorm activity cannot be ruled out today as well.
