September 7, 2016 7:47 AM |

Gujarat Rains 1

After a very long time, the Monsoon rains have made a comeback over the western state of Gujarat. During the last 24 hours Gujarat has been receiving scattered rain. But the intensity of these showers increased last night. Stations like Bhavnagar received 40 mm of rains whereas Mahuva received 30 mm of rainfall.

These rainfall figures are recorded in the span of 9 hours from 08:30 PM last night to 05:30 AM today morning.  As of now more rains are expected to pour over the state in the next 24 hours.

This rainfall activity can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation over Gujarat and neighboring areas. This weather system is expected to give good rains over South Gujarat and scattered rainfall over Central Gujarat.

The intensity of this rainfall will be more over South Gujarat.

As on September 06, 2016 the two subdivisions of Gujarat remained significantly rain deficient. The Gujarat subdivision is rainfall deficient by 24% whereas Saurashtra & Kutch subdivision is rainfall deficient by 15%.

So, it will be safe to say that the Monsoon has been revived over the state of Gujarat. On and off rain is expected to go on throughout the week but the intensity for rain will fall down significantly after 24-48 hours.
