Monsoon to become active over Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh

July 16, 2023 2:05 PM |

Chhattisgarh is one of the states where monsoon rains are deficient. Until July 15, Chhattisgarh is rain deficient by 23%. On the other hand, the adjacent state of Madhya Pradesh has been receiving good rain for the last many days, which is why West Madhya Pradesh is surplus by 18% and East Madhya Pradesh by 8%.

The dormant rainfall over Chhattisgarh will get a boost due to the formation of a low-pressure area over north Odisha and adjoining areas. Chhattisgarh will continue to get moderate showers with one or two heavy spells for the next three days. We think that the rain deficiency in Chhattisgarh will come down to the normal category by next week.

Madhya Pradesh is one of the states which has been receiving a good amount of rainfall for the last many days. The impact of this low-pressure area will be seen over Madhya Pradesh in terms of moderate to heavy rain. The low-pressure area will travel over Northeast Madhya Pradesh reading to increase rain over eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh until July 17 or 18. West Madhya Pradesh will also witness rain for the next 4 to 5 days. There may be a few heavy spells over the state but we do not expect deluge or flash-floods.

Another cyclonic circulation is expected to develop over the Northwest Bay of Bengal by July 18. It may also take a western route across Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
