Multiple weather systems to give good rains over RajasthanThis year, Southwest Monsoon has brought in good news for the state of Rajasthan. In fact, the month of July has displayed a power packed performance in terms of rain in Rajasthan. At present, Rajasthan is witnessing a rain surplus of 24 percent making it fall under the excess rainfall category.

August also began on a good note with the state witnessing good rains. So much so that several parts of the state have witnessed good rains for quite some time now.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Jalore recorded a whopping 78 mm of rain followed by Mount Abu where 51 mm of rainfall was witnessed. Other areas to have received rain include Pali 31 mm, Bundi 29 mm, and Kota 26 mm.

These rains can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which is over South Rajasthan and its adjoining areas. Also, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Phalodi and Ajmer which is enhancing the rains over the region.

Now, during the next 48 hours, good rains will continue over most parts of Rajasthan barring the northern areas of the state. Places including Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Ajmer and Karoli are expected to receive rains during this period.

Thereafter, the cyclonic circulation, which is over Madhya Pradesh will move towards Rajasthan and good Monsoon rains are expected over North Rajasthan. With this, the rainfall surplus in Rajasthan will only increase further.
