Delhi Rains 1

Since the last 2 days, most areas of Delhi & NCR has been witnessing on and off showers. Though the intensity was not heavy but the intensity was good enough to choke the city roads.

More showers expected over Delhi NCR because a cyclonic circulation is seen over Gujarat and Southwest Madhya Pradesh. This cyclonic circulation has allowed the South-easterly winds are reaching Delhi and adjoining areas. These winds are rich in moisture content.

Along with this the dry North-westerly winds are also flowing over Haryana.

Due to the combination of dry and humid winds, we expect that convective clouds to develop over Delhi NCR. And few places may even receive moderate rain and thundershowers.

This rainy scenario will continue for another 48 hours over the National Capital. The rain will not be widespread but will be in patches and intensity will also be in variety. Some areas will receive good showers and some areas will be completely dry.

The observatory in Delhi University recorded 17 mm of rains whereas observatory in Ridge in North Delhi recorded 16.5 mm of rains. In comparison Safdurjung recorded 2 mm of rains, Palam 2.4 mm and Ayanagar recorded 2.6 mm of rains. So it was the North Delhi that recorded good rains when South Delhi remained relatively dry.
