January 25, 2023 7:49 PM |

Several regions of South India have been witnessing some rainfall activity in the last couple of days. As the region, does not see a lot of rain during this time it can be called untimely or unseasonal. The northeast monsoon has already bid adieu to the region about 15 days ago and usually dry weather prevailed is there after which had been the case in south India as well.

However, during the last couple of days, parts of South India did see some rainfall including Kerala as well as some regions of Karnataka. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Thiruvananthapuram recorded a whopping 53 mm, Alappuzha 32 mm, Mysuru 21 mm, Kochi 18 mm, Palayamkottai 11 mm, Punalur 10 mm, Chikmagalur 10 mm.

Rains were attributed to the cyclonic circulation over extreme southern parts across Comorin Sea. Rains may be seen today but these weather conditions will fade away by tomorrow and dry weather will take over.  Another system may be seen over extreme south Bay of Bengal, in the equatorial region and rains may be seen during the fag end of the month.
