Weather forecast for the week in India from 17th to 22nd February

After rain in most parts of India last week, the new week starts on a brighter note with ample sunshine. Rain is again expected in most parts of the country later in the week. Here we are giving you region wise forecast for the week in India.

North India

Day temperatures in North India will witness a marginal rise till Wednesday. But from Friday onwards the weather could start turning partly cloudy with possibility of rain at several places in the region over Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh. Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will observe snow in the hills and rain in the plains during the weekend. Minimum temperatures will remain above normal during later part of the week.

Central India

Some parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha witnessed good amounts of rain last week but as the weather has cleared up now, day temperatures will rise. Maximums at some of the places are below normal by 5 to 10 degrees and are expected to witness an increasing trend till Friday after which they will drop again due to cloudy and rainy weather.

East India

Day temperatures are already below normal by about 5°C at many places in the region. However, they are expected to rise but will not have an impact on the cold weather as resumption of northwesterly winds will keep the day time pleasant if not cool. Minimums will drop in the region from Tuesday and a rise will only be seen when the weather system from northwest plains reaches here by Friday.

South India

Isolated places in South India especially over coastal areas of Kerala and Tamil Nadu could experience rain during the entire week. Day temperatures in the coastal region will settle in the early thirties while, interiors will observe maximums settling in the mid-thirties.

Northeast India

The week starts in the region with good overnight rain from Sunday to Monday. The weather is expected to continue till Wednesday as the remnants of the Western Disturbance present in the region is bringing moisture from the Bay of Bengal. Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura could witness rain at a few places during the period. Weather would turn dry thereafter in the region for the rest part of the week.
