A potent storm will exit the Rockies by the middle of the week and affect the southern Mississippi Valley. This will result in renewed flooding threat across the region. March is likely to end on a stormy note as thunderstorms will rage across the middle part of the country midweek.
This storm will be widespread across the central states, bringing a round of severe weather across the central plains and the Mississippi Valley, with chances of snow in the northern plains and the Upper Midwest.
As the storm moves across the Pacific Northwest and the Rockies it will intensify as it enters the plains. The intensification will be a result of moisture incursion from the Gulf of Mexico. The intensification will occur on Wednesday. This will cause rain and storms during the morning hours across eastern Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
Moderate to major river flooding is still affecting many river gauges in the area and more heavy rain will make matters worse.The Ouachita River at Monroe, Louisiana and the Boeuf River near Fort Necessity, Louisiana are still at high flood state. People in the vicinity of these areas have been advised to take necessary actions to protect life and property.
The storms are strong enough to cause damaging winds and hail from Iowa through Kansas and Missouri and into Oklahoma. Down south from Arkansas to Louisiana the main concern will be flooding rain. There is also a possibility of tornadoes. Travel disruptions will be felt across the region.
By Thursday, the storm will move towards the Great Lakes.
