June 17, 2016 5:59 PM |

Southwest Monsoon remains sluggish over the western side while it has been actively covering the eastern parts of the country. The eastern end of the Monsoon arm has advanced over most parts of West Bengal, Sikkim and some parts of Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar. Conditions are now favourable for further advance of Monsoon over entire Konkan & Goa, some parts of Maharashtra.

The fresh Monsoon system has become well-marked and moved inland. It is presently lying over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Telangana. It will bring fairly widespread rainfall over central India. Intense rainfall activity likely over Vidarbha, South Chhattisgarh and Telangana. Gradually the rainfall belt will extend up to East Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra. Tomorrow Hyderabad could receive good showers.

Southwest Monsoon will remain active in Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Konkan and Goa. Mumbai will receive scattered light rains.

Northeast India will receive fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy. Scattered light to moderate rains likely in East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim and Jharkhand.

The plains of North India including Punjab, Haryana and Delhi-NCR will continue to receive on and off pre-Monsoon activities. This could be attributed to the induced upper air cyclonic circulation seen over Punjab and adjoining areas of North Rajasthan and Haryana.
