Karnataka has been witnessing good rains from the past few days. In the past 24 hours, heavy rains were recorded over the coastal regions of the state. South Interior Karnataka also recorded light to moderate Monsoon rains.

In the last 24 hours from 8. 30 am on Sunday, Raichur witnessed heavy rains to the tune of 49.5 mm, Karwar 39.4 mm, Madikeri 39.4 mm, Agumbe 34.2 mm, Honnavar 35.1 mm and Mangaluru 35 mm of rain. In the same span of time, Hassan witnessed moderate intensity rain to the tune of 19.2 mm, Mysuru 15.1 mm and Bengaluru 12.9 mm of rain.
As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining Konkan and Goa. In addition to this, an off shore trough is also extending along the West Coast from Konkan region to Kerala. It is anticipated that moderate with one or two heavy spells are likely over the coastal region, however, the rain intensity will reduce over the interior districts of the state including Bengaluru.

It is expected that after 24 hours, rain will reduce significantly over the region and light to moderate Monsoon showers will occur over coastal parts, while, the interior regions will witness light showers.
As on September 17, North Interior Karnataka is rain surplus by 5 percent meanwhile South Interior Karnataka is rain deficient by 3 percent. At present, the weather across the state is pleasant but as the rain intensity will reduce in some regions the mercury levels will increase.
