Comfortable days and cool nights ahead for Delhi NCR

Delhi Weather

As reiterated by Skymet weather, fairly widespread rain and thundershowers were witnessed over Punjab and Haryana. Meanwhile, cloudy to overcast sky was observed over the national capital. Few places in the city also received light to very light drizzle during the first half of the day.

The reason for these rains can be attributed to the presence of an active Western Disturbance over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir, which has also induced a cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining parts of Rajasthan.

Due to overcast sky, minimum temperatures have increased by 2 to 3 degrees over Delhi. Today morning, Safdarjung recorded 14.6 degrees, while Palam recorded 15 degrees Celsius.

Now that the Western Disturbance will move away, its induced cyclonic circulation will become insignificant. Moreover, wind pattern will also shift from warm and humid southwesterly winds to dry and cold northwesterlies that will start blowing across the region. In wake of this, night temperatures are likely to drop by 3 to 4 degrees in the next 48 hours.

However, significant fall in minimum temperature is not anticipated. Delhiites will witness warm days and cool nights.

The typical winter chill, which was observed during the initial days of February, is not expected to return back to the national capital.
