Delhi WeatherWith Republic Day coming this weekend, Delhi weather has been getting all the attention it needs. Preparations for the upcoming Republic Day is in full swing. Moreover, the full dress rehearsal was held today between 10 am and 12 pm. Weather conditions were although chilly, but the sun did not shy away from making its presence felt with only a few clouds here and there.

Until yesterday, Delhi rains were wreaking havoc over traffic, making it feel like late in the night at 9:00 am in the morning. In fact, Delhi has seen the wettest spell from January 21 to the forenoon hours of January 22. In fact, accompanying rains were hailstorms and chilly weather during the day. Waterlogging was an added woe for Delhiites.

In a span of 24 hours between 8:30 am day before yesterday to 8:30 am yesterday, the city saw 14.8 mm of rainfall. However, in just about 12 hours or so starting midnight and lasting up to the forenoon hours of yesterday, the city saw 42 mm of heavy rainfall.

Talking about January figures, the city has already surpassed its monthly mean, also being the highest in the last 10 years. Republic Day in Delhi is not likely to be a spoilsport affair in terms of rains, as it was in the year 2017. The city is likely to see a chilly morning with pollution levels being higher than they are. Also, fog will be a highlight during that time.

After the recent rainy spell, clearance is likely. Day temperatures had dropped significantly and caused a rise in minimums which has changed now, and minimums will see a drop with maximums seeing some rise.

No rainfall is likely in the next few days. Drop in minimum is expected due to northerly flow of winds. Fog has made a comeback in a few pockets with Palam seeing visibility of 100 metres all thanks to the presence of moisture in the air. Tomorrow as well, conditions will persist, and fog may appear again. Pollution, which had improved is likely to see a drop due to low temperatures, high humidity and light winds.
