Different Moods of Weather In IndiaIn the past week, various shades of weather have been observed across the country. While Northeast India has observed floods in the region, most parts of South India have been lashed by Monsoon showers. On the other hand, residents of North India witnessed much needed respite from hot weather conditions on Saturday.

Monsoon showers in South India

Monsoon has covered almost entire Peninsular India and heavy rain has been observed along the west coast. Interior parts of the region have also experienced good showers. Temperatures have gone down and the weather conditions have become pleasant. For instance, Visakhaptnam has recorded 93 mm of rain in last 24 hours. Till few weeks back, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were reeling under heatwave conditions but the arrival of Monsoon has improved the weather conditions in the region.

Floods in Northeast India

Assam has been observing floods since the past 3 to 4 days. Monsoon showers in the state has been persistent with heavy in pockets. Brahmaputra River has been overflowing and causing floods in the region. No relief is likely in the next 3 to 4 days, however, the rainfall activity will be confined to Meghalaya and Assam only.

On June 18, a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over Coastal Odisha and adjoining Bay of Bengal region which may turn into a low pressure area leading to reduced rainfall activity in the region.

Respite from heat in North India

Most parts of Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi-NCR region were observing hot weather conditions. The day temperatures were recording in the 40s causing discomfort to the residents of the region. But with rain being observed in most parts of Delhi-NCR and Northwest India on Saturday, temperatures have dropped significantly.

More rain is expected in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh North Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh over the next 2-3 days. However, rainfall activity is expected to be patchy. The temperatures will remain in the high 30s till the time the weather activity is observed in the region.
