Rain in Kerala3

South India has been enjoying pre-Monsoon rains since the beginning of March. In fact, the month of April also followed the similar pattern. On and off rains have been occurring over the Southern Peninsular India, mainly in the southernmost state of Kerala and some southern parts of Karnataka.

Furthermore, the weather of Kerala has not gone dry since last one month. Moderate to heavy rains occurred over Kerala during the last 24 hours as well.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Kannur  recorded 2 mm of rain, followed by Kochi 28.2 mm, Alapuzha 1.7 mm, Kozhikode 9.6 mm.

Further also, light to moderate rains are expected to continue for the next 2 days.

A semi permanent feature of north-south trough is seen extending from central parts of the country to South Tamil Nadu. Along with this, humid winds from Arabian sea are inducing moisture over the state.

Therefore, these systems are resulting in the formation of clouds and subsequent rain and thundershower activities.

Moreover, usually in the month of May, quantum of rain becomes almost double in comparison to April therefore we can say that pre-monsoon activities are likely to pick up pace in the coming days over many parts of Kerala.
