The deep depression which crossed Bangladesh yesterday has weakened into a well-marked low-pressure area over the region. Due to this, heavy to extremely heavy rains occurred over Bangladesh. This system also brought moderate showers over the northeastern states. One or two places even recorded a three-digit rainfall.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Monday, Cherrapunji received extremely heavy rain of 318 mm. Agartala witnessed 94 mm, Kailashahar 70 mm, Gangtok 55 mm, Guwahati 38 mm, and Imphal witnessed 34 mm of rains.

As per Skymet weather, the well-marked Low Pressure is likely to weaken further and will move in the North-northeast direction towards Northeast India. Therefore we expect heavy to very heavy rains to continue over Northeastern states particularly over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

After these Monsoon showers lash the NMMT region, Meghalaya, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh will also get heavy showers. Though, rain intensity is likely to reduce after 24 hours but scattered to moderate showers will continue over Northeast India

At present, the maximum temperatures of most districts of Northeast India are settling between 30–32°C, whereas minimum temperatures are staying between 22-27°C. Due to the pleasant weather conditions across the state, it is the best time to visit Northeast India for an enjoyable stay.
