The last month of Monsoon has come to an end for the country now. Monsoon ended on a good note for the state of Rajasthan. West Rajasthan remained surplus by 19% whereas excess rains occurred over East Rajasthan i.e. 53% surplus.

A Depression which was previously over Gujarat is moving towards Rajasthan and has weakened into a Low Pressure Area. It has already given heavy rains over Southern districts of Rajasthan. During the last 24 hours, Udaipur received 50 mm of rains, Mount Abu 29 mm and Chittorgarh recorded 8 mm rains. Light rains occurred over Kota, Bundi, Bhilwara and Jawai Dam.

Today, we expect moderate rains with one or two heavy spells to occur over eastern and southeastern districts of the state. Places like Udaipur, Dungarpur, Rajasmand, Pratapgarh, Jhalawar, Baran, Bundi, Kota, Bhilwara, Tonk and Sawai Madhopur may receive good rains and thundershower activities today.

By tomorrow, the rain activities will reduce significantly, and we expect only light scattered rains over East Rajasthan and a few parts of West Rajasthan. However, the weather over Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Jalore and Barmer will remain almost dry. Light rains may occur over a few eastern parts like Churu, Sikar and Jaipur.

These on and off rain will continue until October 4.

Monsoon withdrawal is already delayed from Rajasthan by at least one month now. We can expect the withdrawal to commence by October 8 or 10 from Western parts of Rajasthan.
