Hurricane Sally

2020 continues to bring abnormal weather to the world and break new records. This time, it was hurricane Sally causing chaos in the United States. This storm turned into a hurricane and it is the fourth one this year to make landfall in the country. This is the most hurricanes in a year since 2004 and it is also setting records when it comes to the number of storms making landfall. Considering the year is not over, this is not a good sign.

Residents Being Evacuated from Flooding

This week, hurricane Sally has brought a lot of flooding to the Florida-Alabama border. Already, local residents have had to be rescued from their homes due to the bad weather conditions. For example, Pensacola saw 30 inches of rain in just four hours. This is the amount of water that normally drops in around four months in the area.

While hurricane Sally was a Category 2 hurricane to begin with, it appears that it has been downgraded. Thus, local areas are being warned of a bad storm rather than a hurricane. However, there can still be 35 mph winds, as well as torrential rain. Florida and Alabama are already realizing the devastating effects of the rainfall, with the need for recovery missions and curfews in certain areas of the states. Many homes have been destroyed and areas have been left without power. For example, the Pensacola Bay Bridge has sustained damage, with a part missing and making it dangerous.

Hurricane Sally Continues to Destroy US Gulf Coast

Unfortunately, hurricane Sally is not stopping after Florida and Alabama. It is continuing to cause destruction along the US Gulf Coast. So, people are advised to stay safe and stay indoors where it is possible. This means that locals will have to find ways to entertain themselves. it is at times like this when Netflix, gaming sites and online casinos experience a spike in visitors to their websites.

Hurricane Sally

In particular, hurricane Sally is heading north and bringing win and torrential rain to the Carolinas and Georgia. So far, one person is missing and another has been killed in the hurricane’s path. In addition, the damage is going to be long-lasting with many homeowners having their property destroyed by flooding up to the waist.

It is likely that hurricane Sally will also produce winds of between 96 to 110 mph. However, the good news is that it is predicted that this hurricane will not be as deadly as hurricane Laura was. But residents in the area can still expect significant flooding and damage to be caused by this bad weather. This might also include power and electricity going out over the coming days.

People are being asked to remain vigilant and use common sense this week in order to stay safe. Something that experts have noticed is that hurricane Sally does seem to be moving slowly, which might be caused by climate change. But this might mean that the flooding will be worse along the US Gulf Coast in the next week.
