Kolkata rains continue as Monsoon knocks doorsKolkata weather has transformed as continuous rains have been lashing the city of joy. The city has been receiving good showers for the past one week with the exception of one or two dry days. While these rains have not had much effect on the temperatures, these showers have definitely brought a smile on the face of the residents of Kolkata.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Dumdum observatory in Kolkata has recorded a good 15 mm of rain. So far, Kolkata has recorded 136.1 mm of rain against its monthly average rainfall of 283.5 mm. However, with Monsoon yet to make an onset over the city of joy and about two weeks left in June, Kolkata may even surpass the monthly average rainfall.

Light rain was also recorded over Kolkata during the early morning hours today. As per Skymet Meteorology Division in India, Kolkata is expected to receive more rains during the next 24 hours. In fact, on and off rains will continue over the city of joy until Monsoon makes an onset over Kolkata.

Southwest Monsoon is expected to make an onset over Kolkata very soon. As Monsoon arrives over the city of joy, rainfall intensity will increase over the city and Pre-Monsoon showers will be replaced by good Monsoon rains. Until then, residents can enjoy patchy rains over Kolkata.
