Light Pre Monsoon rains in Bengaluru to continue

May 15, 2017 2:02 PM |

Light Pre Monsoon rains in Bengaluru to continueBengaluru rains have been playing the cat and mouse game for quite some time now. While there are days that evening turn out to be rainy for the city, while during the others only cloudy weather prevails with rains remaining in hiding.

While rains had remained absent from the capital city of Karnataka during the last 2 to 3 days, rain gods decided to give a special appearance yesterday. In fact, during the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Bengaluru recorded a good 2.6 mm of rainfall.

These weather conditions can be attributed to multiple weather features. A cyclonic circulation persists over the Interior Karnataka region. Along with this, a trough is extending from the Marathwada region up to South Tamil Nadu across Interior Karnataka and Interior Tamil Nadu. Also, moisture incursion is taking place from the Bay of Bengal resulting in cloud formation over the city.

Usually, the Pre-Monsoon rainfall activity occurs during the later afternoon and evening hours. During this time, thunderclouds develop over the area resulting in some rains.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, during the next 2 to 3 days, these spot rains are expected to continue over some parts of Bengaluru. While the rainfall intensity will not be on the higher side, residents will welcome these patchy rains and thundershowers a few weeks before the arrival of Monsoon.
