Monsoon hits Delhi after 228 mm rains, showers to decrease now

Rain in DelhiMonsoon 2017 finally made an onset over Delhi and the NCR region after days of waiting. Monsoon, this time was delayed throughout the country after making a timely onset over Kerala. Thus, Delhiites also had to wait for an extra 2 to 3 days to witness the arrival of Monsoon.

Monsoon like rains were lashing the national capital for quite some time now and it was only yesterday that Monsoon spread its wings over Delhi and the NCR region.

While moderate to heavy rains were occurring over the city for the last few days, rain intensity was on the lesser side during the last 24 hours.

During the last 21 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Palam observatory recorded 4 mm of rainfall. These rains were attributed to the presence of a cyclonic circulation over Haryana and adjoining areas. A trough was also running in proximity of Delhi and NCR.

Due to the ongoing rainfall activity, maximum temperatures have witnessed a significant drop. Presently, the maximum in Delhi is at around 32 degrees which happens to be at least 5 degrees below the normal levels.

As per weathermen at Skymet, on and off light rains will continue over the national capital and its adjoining areas for the next two to three days which will keep the weather conditions slightly pleasant.
