Central region of the country that includes Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have been witnessing subdued Monsoon conditions since past many days. However, weather conditions have taken a U-turn as during the last 24 hours, as Southwest Monsoon seems to be active over central parts of the country. Many areas recorded light to moderate rains with isolated heavy spells. However, West Madhya Pradesh remained dry.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Satna 49 mm, Ambikapur 34 mm, Rewa 23 mm and Ujjain 20 mm.

The rains over East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh can be credited to a north-south trough that was passing through Chhattisgarh.

Prior to this, subdued Monsoon was prevalent across the region which can be attributed to the absence of any significant weather system over the region. Moreover, the axis of Monsoon trough was also passing close to the foothills of Himalayas.
