Hyderabad receives good spell of rain due to multiple weather systems

June 5, 2016 1:19 PM |

Hyderabad rainsHyderabad has been receiving scattered light to moderate rains for the last 5 days. In fact, on and off rains have been witnessed all over Telangana in the last about one week. However, the intensity of rain increased during the last 24 hours.

This spell of rain could be attributed to two weather systems. There is one cyclonic circulation brewing over the Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andhra Coast. We can see another cyclonic circulation over the Karnataka Coast. Due to these weather systems, moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Seas are reaching over the interior parts of Peninsular India including Telangana. Apart from these two, a trough is also extending from Jharkhand up to Telangana and Rayalaseema.

Hyderabad has recorded 12 mm of rainfall during last 24 hours and we expect good rain and thundershowers to continue over Hyderabad during next 48 hours.

Thereafter, the weather system which is over the Andhra Coast will become less marked. The trough will also shift in a westward direction, leading to significant decrease in rainfall activities. But the weather will not go completely dry. Another spell of rain is expected from June 11 onwards.

As of now, temperatures will remain in mid-thirties in Hyderabad. Heatwave conditions will remain missing from Hyderabad and Telangana.
