Rain in the offing for Maharashtra

February 27, 2016 10:53 AM |

Rain in MaharshtraMost areas in Maharashtra have remained dry for the past few days due to the absence of any active weather system. Moreover, regions of Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra did not receive any rain since January 1.

In wake of this, day temperatures were also settling above normal by 3 to 5 degrees since the last few days.

Now, a good news awaits the people of Maharashtra. During the next 3 to 4 days, Maharashtra is likely to witness light to moderate rain and thundershowers.

At present, a cyclonic circulation can be seen over Southwest Madhya Pradesh. A trough is also seen running from North Interior Karnataka to East Rajasthan across Madhya Maharashtra and West Madhya Pradesh.

Due to these systems, scattered rain will commence over the state during the next 24 hours. Thereafter by February 28, a confluence zone is likely to develop over Madhya Maharashtra that will enhance the rainfall activity over Maharashtra.

A confluence zone develops when dry winds from the north meet warm and humid winds coming from Bay of Bengal.

Minimum temperatures are also expected to increase by 1 to 3 degrees due to this. While, day temperatures will drop by 2 to 3 degrees resulting in comfortable weather conditions.
