Rains expected over Patna, Gorakhpur, Ranchi during next 24 hours

The states of Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar have not received good rains since the beginning of the month of September. However, the state of Jharkhand on the other hand has witnessed a few good spells of rain.

The last 24 hours were also similar for these areas with heavy rains lashing isolated pockets of Jharkhand as well as Uttar Pradesh.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Meerut recorded a whopping 62 mm of rainfall being the rainiest city in India. Along with this, 53 mm of rain was witnessed in Ranchi.

Presently, the axis of Monsoon trough which was running close to the foothills has shifted towards the northern plains due to the formation of cyclonic circulation over Northeast Rajasthan.

Due to this change in weather feature, scattered rains are expected over some parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar as well as Jharkhand. Places including Gorakhpur, Patna, Muzaffarpur, Ranchi, Bokaro, Jamshedpur may witness light to moderate rains. Meanwhile, cities in Northwest Uttar Pradesh including Bareilly, Meerut and Muzaffarnagar may receive some rains for next 24 hours.

Thereafter, weather in most parts of Uttar Pradesh will become dry. However, Bihar and Jharkhand will receive light to moderate rains. One or two places in adjoining East Uttar Pradesh may also witness light rains, while west and central Uttar Pradesh will go absolutely dry.
