Bihar, Jharkhand get winter’s first rainfall, mercury to go down

In the past many days, several parts of Jharkhand has been receiving hefty amount of rainfall, particularly Ranchi and Jamshedpur. Three digit rainfalls was a everyday affair over these districts.

The last 24 hours were also not very different, as one or two areas recorded heavy spells such as Daltonganj that observed 101 mm of rainfall, while Ranchi received 24 mm of moderate showers and Jamshedpur 5 mm of light rains.

The reason for these incessant showers across the region can be attributed to the well-marked low pressure area that was persisting over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand since past few days. Yesterday this system intensified into a depression and was over northwest parts of Jharkhand.

As per Skymet Weather, this system has shifted to Southeast Uttar Pradesh. As a result, the overall intensity of the showers will now reduce significantly over the state. However, light to moderate rain and thundershowers with one or two heavy spells will continue to affect the region.

The weather will remain pleasant across the state and temperature will continue to settle near the normal levels.

With the reduced activity, the chaos that been made will now bring some respite. As on July 26, the state of Jharkhand is rain surplus by 19%.
